Interesting morning

At approximately 9:30 this morning, I bought a pistol case and a six pack of Mike's Hard Margaritas at Walmart.  It was quite the experience.  I also got out the components of my army list and found that I do have everything I need, which was nice.  I found an assault sergeant that needed to be based and primed, plus two missile launcher marines who will be wearing the alternate Blood Angels livery of dark green for a bit, but other than that everything was some shade of red.  I'm fighting the urge to throw some paint on them so they're past just the primer stage as I intend to take some time with them.  As noted last time, I think I have a decent approach to doing the red and that'll be 90% of the painting, so it would be silly to start scrambling just as I get a plan into place.  In the meantime, I have another batch of models in the drying studio.

My sophisticated drying setup.
That's a Sanguinary Priest, three meltagunners, and four missile launchers for those playing at home, and soon enough they'll be joined by an assault sergeant.  I don't know that I'll get much else done today, but I'm ok with it if I don't.  It's been a productive week, so I've got some wiggle room.

  1. I know, It's sort of surreal buying alcohol and firearms accessories at the same time, But that's the Great American Tradition, eh?

I'm a bit concerned about how dark that red primer is, but hopefully you'll prove me wrong with the finished product.

  2. I loved imagining what the cashier was thinking about while checking me out, and how far off base it probably was. Good times.

I think the primer is going to work well. It is darkish, but that's the idea. I never really liked the super bright Blood Angels anyway, but I want to keep them bright enough that they don't look like Word Bearers or some successor chapter. I think it'll work out, and I may get some work in on non-test models this afternoon.

Does tomorrow at 11 or so work for you? I'll be leaving for hockey at around 3, so an earlier start is going to be good, plus you may be working tomorrow and under similar constraints.

  3. 11 sounds good to me. I'll try to have the board set up before hand to maximize gameplay time.

I don't work on Fridays, but I'd like to have time to get the place cleaned up before my girl gets home any way.
